Two out of three adult men eventually experience balding. A significant number of women also suffer progressive hair loss. It tends to increase in severity with age, but not evenly so. The degree and rate of hair loss will generally depend upon hereditary factors. That is to say, the genetic makeup of the individual controls the extent of male (and often female) pattern baldness.

Fortunately, although we may be predisposed to hair loss, there is an area on our heads where the hair is genetically programmed never to fall out. This area is the horseshoe-shaped rim of hair around the back and sides of the head. Hair follicles can be removed inconspicuously from this donor area and permanently transplanted to the areas where hair is thinning or has been lost.
