A consultation with our doctors is the first step in hair restoration. If you live in the Kansas City area, they will meet with you personally. However, approximately half of our patients live outside the Kansas City area.  Patients who live out of town can schedule a phone consultation which usually includes digital photos sent over the internet. The consultation includes a review the surgical and medical options, range of costs, and realistic expectations. Of course, all consultations are done personally by Dr. Buchwach and Dr. Goldstein.

The two techniques we offer are FUT and FUE. Both are donor harvesting procedures. With FUT, a small strip of tissue is removed from the back of the head and under magnification, the grafts are then created, dissecting them from the strip. This technique is appropriate for almost all women. For men, we strongly recommend FUE regardless of how they wear their hair as FUE results in no incision as the grafts are removed with a motorized punch leaving tiny openings (1 mm or less) that heal quickly. In our practice, each of these FUE grafts is also examined under the microscope to ensure that only excellent FUE grafts are utilized.
